Tornadoes

7:14 AM

Let me tell you a crazy, real life story that happened to me yesterday.

It all started when I texted my husband around at 2:00 p.m., "Hey baby.  How's your day going?"
He replied, "Tornadoes."

Holy what?! I was just minding my own business making some key lime cupcakes and banana muffins, clueless to the insanity that was taking place all over Dallas.

It was CRAZINESS I tell you.

By 2:45 p.m. the storm had reached my city.  This happens to be right around the time that school gets out.

Needless to say school did not get out at 2:50 as usual.

I was glued to the TV watching the doppler like a hawk.  Watching that purple circle (the one that indicates a tornado) get closer and closer to my house.

My husband was at work.

My daughter was in lock down at school and I KNEW she would be freaking out.  I found out later that she was bunkered down in the boys' bathroom for an entire hour.

My son was with his cousin in lockdown at his cousin's school because they wouldn't let my nephew go home, so my sister-in-law had to wait inside the school with the kids.

I was at home with Colton.

For a solid hour things were nuts.

We had hail:

Colton and I hid in the pantry:

Thankfully we have food, books, and our extra high chair in there:

Jax was having a grand old time with his bff/cousin, those little boys were completely oblivious:

I was worrying my head off about my family, spread out all over the city, texting everyone like crazy trying to make sure they were all safe.

FINALLY at 3:45 p.m. they let the kids out of school.  The storm let up.  My city was spared.  But that's more than can be said for a lot of people around Dallas.   Reports are saying that up to 12 tornadoes hit here yesterday.  Thankfully I haven't heard any reports of deaths.

Check out this footage.  It's not great quality, but it gets the point across.

Craziest day ever!
