I love: babies

12:40 PM

Oh my goodness I love babies.  I must, I have had 3 of my own and I'm not done yet... no I'm definitely not announcing anything either.  Three babies is a lot of babies and each one has been more difficult to bring into the world than the one before.

Anyway, I'm so especially in love with babies today for two reasons.

Reason #1: My baby is all better!  Hooray!  It was such a hard 10 days with that nasty, nasty RSV virus, but he is back to his happy, sweet self and I'm so thankful!  He's back to playing cars all day long and yesterday he said "Batman" for the first time, which makes me love him even more!

Reason #2: I'm throwing a baby shower for a friend of mine tonight and all those cute itty bitty clothes just make me swoon.  Oh sweet baby clothes.  I love them so much!!  I had a great theme all picked out for the baby shower, and I was going to go all out with decorations and favors and the like.  Then my kids got sick and my hubby has worked the last 11 days straight.  In my attempts to stay sane I dropped the big shower plans and went for simple blue.  BUT I did do a couple of small projects for the shower, that, I think, are worth sharing.

Gift: appliqué tie onesie (tutorial here), flannel blanket (from target), one piece romper (from Old Navy clearance, I LOVE these one piece things).  It doesn't really match, but I love all three items!

Dessert: mini-cupcakes with blue icing and mini-brownies with chocolate cinnamon buttercream icing!  Oh man I love frosting, and this might be my new favorite.

Recipe:
I just used the basic Wilton's buttercream recipe
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups powder sugar
then I added cinnamon to taste, I love how it turned out

I also cleaned my house AND took a shower AND did my hair.  I'm really excited for a girls' night tonight to celebrate this new little baby!

  1. I just came across your blog, saw the title of your past and was like, "OMG I LOVE BABIES TOO!" So we have something in common.
But unfortunately I am a tad young to have any little ones any time soon. I guess I can just live vicariously through you and your cute little ones. Those cupcakes look amazing! I just went to the gym and now I want something sweet to make up for all those calories I burned. Have a great weekend!
